Friday night my friends Lynn (left) and Sue came to my art studio. We wove scraps of fabric through rug material, used the zigzag stitch on the sewing machine and made these beautiful book covers for our favorite journals. Lynn is holding her masterpiece, Sue is holding mine and the yellow and orange one that she made. Thanks Sue for coming up with such a fun project and also bringing the sewing machine. These took until 11:30 at night to complete BTW! But it is something I will always treasure (as well as the company).

MADDIE MAKES ART
My friend Maddie visited my art studio today and made some very nostalgic items. Some of you may recognize them as woven pot holders - BUT look at her colors. We had so much fun choosing patterns, colors and weaving our heads off! Thanks for such a fun day, Maddie!

MEET MABEL MONKEY
After a lot of stress sitting at a sewing machine again I am happy to say I was able to complete Mabel (Softies only a mother could love). She insisted on the lime green hair ribbon before going into the basket with the other softies I completed while visiting Penny in LA. She seems to be the first girl softie I have created. What's up with that? I don't know if my nerves can take another sewing machine experience but I am determined to try. Hopefully my next softie won't take me a whole week to complete!

BEST OF THE BARBIES
FUN AT THE BARBIE SALON
Today my friend Patty and I spent 3 hours dressing, styling and generally fussing over 21 Barbies, 3 Barbie/Bratt look-alike dolls, 5 Bratt dolls, 1 questionable Ken army type guy and 13 Kelly's. We were both exhausted, tired of their attitudes (especially during their photo shoot) and ready for them to go to new homes. We also had our favorites of the group and some that had to go back in the Bucket O' Barbies because they need to see plastic surgeons, get wigs, shoes and skin color correction.

ART FRIENDS A GO-GO

BUCKET O' BARBIES
My volunteer job at Bridging (www.Bridging.org) is a wonderful place where we sort and shelve items for families that have little or nothing. Families have a chance to get beds, furniture and household items at no charge. This week my friend Marti discovered this large quantity of Barbie and friends. My job now is to make these Barbies look lovable again. I want any parent that comes to Bridging to be able to take home a Barbie and some clothes for their daughters. My friend Patty has offered to help comb, brush and dress them. I will post them again after their beauty makeovers.

STRAWBERRY NEEDLE KEEPER
Another small hand sewn project. A sweet little hand-dyed wool felt needle keeper. Open the bottom to reveal the pink center of the strawberry and a place to keep your needle until tomorrow's sewing.
DOUGHNUTS ANYONE?
Since returning from LA and recovering from pneumonia I have only been able to do some small sewing. I decided to make some no-calorie doughnuts. These are all hand sewn, frosted with strawberry, chocolate and vanilla felt icing and then beaded because all doughnuts need sprinkles. (Only one real doughnut was consumed during this process).
